Overall, Clary’s Country Corner Restaurant offers a solid breakfast in a charming and comfortable atmosphere, and one I’ll keep visiting time after time.
Two words of caution, however ~
I enjoy the grits which are made to order, as well as the scrapple which is always crisp on the outside, and moist and steamy on the inside. The home fries are pretty darn good too – there’s nothing worse to me when venturing off the nutrition wagon than to waste needless calories on soggy, greasy home fries – here, the red skin potatoes are browned to a slight crispiness outside, revealing a smooth, creamy interior with each bite.
Located at 2 W. Hereford Avenue and Route 9, Clary’s is a favorite spot of locals and is pretty much always packed – and for good reason.
But that doesn’t happen often. These days, my reality is much closer to most mornings beginning with an egg-white omelet with a few of broccoli florets tossed in for good measure, or a small bowl of oatmeal or perhaps, more often than not, a protein shake transformed into a smoothie with the addition of a few pieces of frozen fruit.
Anyone who reads my blogs here on foodidude.com can realize in about 3 minutes flat that New Jersey and I have quite the history. Born and raised in the Garden State, I’ve traveled tip to tip and river shore to sandy shore thousands of times, and know most of it like the back of my hand.
For those on a budget, Claryʼs is the home of the original 2-2-2 Breakfast Special which offers 2 eggs, 2 pancakes or French toast, and 2 bacon strips or sausage links for $2.22.
Secondly - refuse the booth next to the restrooms.
