Penne Pasta with Ground Beef & Broccoli

      We are a family on the go and more often than not, we enjoy a pasta dish at least a couple of nights per week. I love it because you can really be creative with veggies and and it's never a time-consuming dinner to prepare. This particular dish is tasty and delicious and takes no more than twenty minutes from start to finish. Bon Appetit!
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb Penne pasta
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Approximately 3 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 head of broccoli
Preparation:
  1. Chop onion and mince garlic. Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet. Add onion and garlic and sweat.
  2. Add ground beef and crumble as it cooks.
  3. Meanwhile, briefly steam broccoli florets while beef cooks.
  4. Add tomato sauce and spices to skillet and allow to simmer.
  5. Add steam broccoli florets to skillet, cover and continue to simmer.
  6. Prepare pasta according to directions and drain.
  7. Toss pasta with contents of skillet.
  8. Serve and top with grated Romano or Parmigiana cheese.
  9. Enjoy!
