With the end of summer fast approaching, and a crystal clear humidity free day on tap, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to the Summer Brews and Tunes Festival, which was held at the Vineyard and Brewery at Hershey.
The brewery also offers growlers, and sells growler bottles, but will also fill growler bottles purchased from other breweries.
Again, this brewery has great potential, and I look forward to many good events and beers as the brewery matures.
After I tasted my flight of beer, I ordered a pint of American Special Bitter to take down the festival area of the event. There were many vendors at the festival - too many to describe here, but here are a few of my favorites.
BEST FOOD TRUCK - Baron Von Schwein.
Offering all things pork, including pulled pork sandwiches, and my favorite, sweet and hot pork buns.
BEST BAND - Cabinet
The Pennsylvania band Cabinet went on at 8:00 p.m. and it was well worth the wait. More than just a bluegrass band, their songs include ripping fast licks, long jams, great sound, and the best banjo playing I have ever seen live. Definitely worth seeing them if you have the opportunity.
Thick rich, and somewhat hoppy, this beer was the best offered at the festival. “American Special Bitter” is a variety not often seen, and is a welcome change from the overabundance of IPA’s in the microbrew scene. Both pints and growlers were offered, and if you bring your own growler, they will fill it for a reduced price.
